Charters Towers with a population of about 12,000 people offers all the services you would expect in a small provincial town.

For tourists there are ATM's, a Post Office, Banks, Supermarkets, Newsagents, Bakeries, Service Stations and mechanics for that car that needs a bit of pampering. There are a number of excellent retail and hardware shops that provide a great range of stock, including camping supplies.

The community is also well serviced by medical practitioners, therapists, pharmacies and veterinary clinics. The town has its own hospital, ambulance and police stations. Many service clubs also provide community facilities and the town has churches of all denominations, which hold regular services.

Transport services are available between Charters Towers and Townsville and the town also has its own  taxi service.
