The 10 Days in The Towers Festival is an annual event that brings the historic North Queensland town of Charters Towers to life in a very unique way.
The Ten Days in the Towers will be staged from Friday, April 26 to Monday, May 6 2013, in Charters Towers. Charters Towers is 130 km south-west of Townsville on the Flinders Highway.
To the fore is the sound of country music which can be heard daily in the town’s many hotel bars and on the streets of the central business district as the popular buskers entertain shoppers and passers-by.
But the 10 Days in The Towers is not only a country music festival – it is so much more than that. Locals and visitors also enjoy line dancing, bush poetry, talent quests and historic tours during the period of the festival which also includes two country music festivals – the All Australian Jamboree and the Charters Towers Country Music Festival.
After 10 successful festivals, 10 Days in the Towers is ready to hit another level. The committee of volunteers have worked closely with the Charters Towers Regional Council and Events Queensland to secure funds for a part time event coordinator. While voluntary hours are vital to the event the committee are seeking funds to ensure the sustainability of the event for years to come.
Thanks to funding supplied by Events Queensland we have been able to employ an Event Coordinator for 2013.
The reality that thousands of visitors gravitate to Charters Towers for this unique annual festival is a testament to its ongoing success.
